Nothing says summer refreshment quite like an ice cream float. And while root beer and vanilla may have floated our childhood boat, we’ve been experimenting with other types of beer. Since ACME Ice Cream calls Bellingham home, we decided to partner with our friends at Aslan Brewing Company to create this absolutely decadent treat. Rich, velvety dark chocolate ice cream – made with three kinds of Guittard chocolate – doused with Aslan Brewing Company’s malty American Stout, brimming with roasted coffee and chocolate flavor and a hint of piney notes from the hops. It’s smooth on smooth.
Once upon a time, caprese salad was not on every restaurant menu and no one had even considered bringing a caprese-on-a-toothpick appetizer platter to a party. Remember back to the first time you tasted the magical combination of sun-ripened tomato with creamy slices of fresh mozzarella sprinkled with basil, glistening with olive oil and drizzle of rich balsamic vinegar.
Summer raspberries scream pure joy in the Pacific Northwest. Our warm days and cool nights produce sweet fruit with enough acidity to blast them into the flavor pleasure zone. And all those bright, rich reds and purples mean loads of nutrients from Vitamin C to anthocyanins and ellagitannins that fight inflammation and cancer. Berries may be the health superheroes of the fruit world, but it’s the sweet zingy taste that keeps us reaching back into the farmer’s market flat for just one more until all that’s left are juicy stains on the green pint boxes.
Here at ACME, we love the classics – vanilla bean, dark chocolate chip, strawberry – but we also like to mix things up from time to time. Consider the Italian affogato – made with a scoop of our vanilla bean ice cream that “goes to 11” and then drowned in a shot of hot Moka Joe espresso. It’s a beautiful way to enjoy an afternoon lift with a touch of rich, velvety sweetness.
Everyone needs to eat to live, but flavor is the only reason anyone reaches for dessert. That’s why ACME takes its flavor partners so seriously. The best ingredients make the best Ultra-Premium ice cream and our partners, like Moka Joe Coffee, deliver top quality flavors from sustainably-managed sources. Here’s a little peek into our favorite local roaster.
Flavor and texture rule the day when it comes to culinary pleasures. As the pinnacle of gastronomic treats, ice cream should be velvety smooth, weighty on the tongue, slow to melt, and rich with flavor. ACME Ice Cream packs the biggest flavor punch and has the most decadent texture for a reason – no air is added during the manufacture of our product.
It doesn’t get any more Northwest than Whatcom County in Washington State. Geographically, this 2,500-square mile pocket of bliss is literally the northwest corner of the continental United States. Culturally, this is “Paradise Found” for outdoor enthusiasts and fans of fresh, locally-sourced food – like our ultra-premium ACME Ice Cream.
Believe it or not, Acme is a real place. This tiny pastoral town tucked up in Washington State’s “northwestiest” corner is carpeted in thick sweet grass, a favorite snack of Acme’s largest population component.
